President of Nummist Media, author of a number of books on computer vision for Packt Publishing. Mr. Howse won a Bpeace 2014 Travelling Mentor Award for excellence as a trainer and consultant. He is a contributor to several open-source projects, including the Linux kernel and OpenCV.
Joseph Howse is the author of five technical books on computer vision and another on game programming in Python, with more than 10,000 copies sold through Packt Publishing:
Through his company, Nummist Media, he provides consulting, training, software development, and technical writing to other businesses worldwide. Mr. Howse has helped his clients build an ultrasound machine, aerospace simulations, point-of-sale systems, animal monitoring systems, mobile apps, and games. He lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, with four cats who collaborated with him to create a feline face detection system.
Mr. Howse will present his ideas in a live dialogue with Colorhythm CEO Jeff Nova in the event "The Future of Vision: When Machines Learn to See" as well as a hands-on course in programming computer vision, "Computer Vision for Python Programmers: Part 1."
